Wolf Scout Sergeant

So I'm cranking these Wolf Scouts out one at a time this week.  I base coated them this past weekend, but am giving each a couple hours each weekday evening for detail work.  This gent will be the sergeant.  A couple things to note:

I vastly prefer this snow, which is Gale Force Nine's, to Army Painters.  The difference is very noticeable even from a distance, in that Army Painter's snow is made of large grains which stand out from one another.  GF9's snow is made of smaller pieces, which go on more realistically and give the ground here a frosted, light snow look that I wanted. 

I plan on glazing the sword as a power sword, but wanted to try out the new GW glazes, for kicks.  I probably won't get my hands on that new paint for a couple of weeks. 

The eyes are painted and the gun barrel is drilled, as always.  You can't see those details as well due to the angle of the picture. 

Weekend Update: March 26th, 2012

Another busy weekend!  I seem to be a bit stuck on painting, not in the sense that not much is getting done, but in the sense that my output seems small because I'm taking longer for each model.  While it's really nice to have nicely done models, it is sometimes disheartening to have less things done.  

Anyway, I played some Mouse Guard yesterday, and enjoyed it very much, and also managed to finish painting another Space Wolf Scout.  I've been working on improving the bases, and hope you'll enjoy them as much as I do. 

New Display Boards / Hobby Organization

After working on my first new army case/display board a while back, I decided to overhaul my hobby room and reorganize my models using these new boards.  I have quite a few models, so this took some work.  I started by spraying a few more sheets of steel and assembling a few more cases. 

Yellow and brown for the sand bases, and green and brown for the grass bases. 

I put in some more shelves in my office closet, and blam, things are a heck of a lot more organized.  The best part is, you can grab each individual army off the closet shelf in a case or two, reorganize a case to hold your current army list, and go. 

Should make life a lot easier!

New GW Store in Raleigh Has Opening Date Set

Looks like the GW store opening here in Raleigh will have its grand opening on April 14th.  They've got some grand opening events and free stuff, and I may have to make it over there to check things out!

Space Wolf Scout

Welp, for some reason I cannot get the picture rotated properly, so everyone just put your head on your right shoulder. 

I've had the Wolf Pack sprue for a while, and have always thought it was awesome for the sheer amount of bits it comes with, but what got me going on a little Space Wolf kick was the release (and my winning) of the Thunderwolf Cavalry and Fenrisian Wolves.  I started playing around with the Wolf Pack kit, and ended up putting together five Wolf Scouts.  I used to run a Raven Guard Scout army back in 4th Edition 40K, and really enjoyed it before Scouts were nerfed a bit in 5th Edition. 

Anyway, the basing is dirt, followed by grass and fall leaves, and then some snow.  This base's snow came out a little thicker than I would have liked, but I hope to get it down to a lighter frost look. 

I seem to be distracted by side projects lately, and need to finish up the current Wood Elf project at some point, but I've also got four more of these Scouts, the second half of a Bretonnian knight, and a Ghorgon to finish.  Right now, randomness has the best of me. 

Weekend Update: March 19th, 2012

So a lot of hobby stuff went down this weekend.  Mainly, I've been working throughout the week, and especially this weekend, to redo my office/hobby room.  I pulled everything out of the desks and closet, and have been reorganizing, getting rid of stuff I don't use, and putting my models into the movement trays / storage bins I've been building.  I'll have pictures later this week. 

I've also had my Wood Elf project temporarily derailed by some dirty Space Wolves, of all things.  The new Thunderwolf Cavalry and Fenrisian Wolves boxes really tickled my fancy, and I ended up picking them up with my winnings last weekend.  I then got into a couple Space Wolf Pack boxes I had, and ended up making some models, and painting my first Wolf Scout.  He'll be up on the site this week as well.
